Dear Friends of The Bessemer Classical School:

The Bessemer Classical School exists to provide students with a high quality, Christian education in a safe environment and to provide this to youngsters who might not otherwise be able to afford to attend such a school. The classical curriculum is intended not only to provide our students with a healthy base of general knowledge, but also to train them in how to reason and think for themselves. And, most importantly, we intend to introduce each student to the gospel of Jesus Christ, so that each of them can know the Truth and have an opportunity to live in eternity with God Himself.

This ministry is dear to my heart for a number of reasons. First, Bessemer is my hometown, so I jumped at the chance to be involved when Jim Shaw, our Head of School, asked me to pray about helping him start a school there. My wonderful parents always emphasized the benefits of a good education, and my life has been enhanced greatly by the high quality education they helped provide for me. Further, having come to a saving knowledge of Christ when I was a youngster, I have experienced personally what God can do and know the most important thing I can help pass along to young people is the truth of His Gospel. And having grown up in Bessemer during tumultuous times, I know that the only real way to reconciliation among the various races and ethnic groups that comprise our modern culture is through a change of heart, brought about by the holy God of the universe.

As you probably know, we are funded entirely by private donations. In order to be good stewards of your contributions, we strive for excellence and efficiency in every regard, and in an effort to see this through, have put together a Board of Directors comprised of individuals who are both enthusiastic and supportive of the School's ministry, and who are also committed to providing detailed oversight of the use of those donated funds to see that none of it is wasted. We want you to have every confidence that each dollar you contribute to Bessemer Classical is used to accomplish the very purposes for which the School exists.
